Dr Bharathi Vishnuvardhana at ‘Belli Hejje’ that is the 12th in the series on last Saturday urged for the unity in the Kannada cinema industry like it is rampantly seen in other film industries of the country.

The crowded gathering at Badami House Priyadarshini hall had the most lovable personality Dr Bharathi Vishnuvardhana who spoke on her life from the school and college days.

We give you the detail report of over one hour interaction session of ‘Belli Hejje’. KCA Chairman TS Nagabharana and senior journalist KH Savithri Suresh Kumar were also on the dais.

The abridged version of Dr Bharathi Vishnuvardhana Belli Hejje:

• I was born on the independence day in 1958 and so named as Bharathi.
• I was in the school attending the classes my father asked me to come in the middle. My teachers also came with me when they got the news that I have to go to Chennai. Chinni Sampath Kumar Master selected me without my knowledge consulting my father.
• I cried profusely why I should go to Chennai. My teachers also told that it is a good opportunity.
• My father Ramachandra Rayaru had seen the future of my life. I went to Chennai then Madras and for the first film I was not selected.
• It was my first journey on December 24, 1964 I had to leave the Maharanis College.
• Shot put, skipping, long jump, tinny cot, running race all became distant dream.
• My interest was in athletics, dance and singing. I represented the state. For college I used to wear the school uniform so that it is easy to participate in athletics.
• My first film was with Kalyankumar. I hail from the family where we don’t see the boys from top to bottom. Only when I used to complete some task in house I was taken to films in Swasthik theatre.
• In cinema I used to sit watch and improve. I was questioning to myself how best I could do.
• When the stalwarts Dr Rajakumar, Dr Bhanumanthi, Sivaji Ganeshan, Jayanthi, Dr Saroja Devi, MGR were there already in the field I was to act.
• This film industry is like ocean. It is Punya to be here.
• Punctuality is what the best I maintained. When I was getting inside the sets Sivaji Ganeshan used pull me behind to enter first on the sets.
• I was selected for Padmini Pictures Dudde Doddappa. Looking at my punctuality and coming on the sets with make up Panthuluji selected me for Sri Krishnadevaraya. Everyday I think of him and this food is from his support.
• In the age to learn and know I got the best opportunity in Sandhya Raga that fetched me the national award. Today getting award is distant dream because of lobbying.
• In three years of my career I have acted in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
• Kannada shooting was held in Majestic and Shyamala studios late in the night.
• For Balu Belagithi I was with Dr Raj and Jayanthi the seniors. I struggled to give my best portion.
• Without glycerin one can cry when Sivaji Ganeshanji used to act.
• It is difficult to survive if one does not have the patience. I was in those days is my happiness.
• Dilipkumar used to say when I dropped the tear for six times continuously ‘Ye Kya Ladki Yaar’ in appreciation.
• My husband Dr Vishnu is screen Dairvatntha.. In real life he was timid. Very soft. When I had back ache problem he was very nervous. In just fifteen days of operation I came to the sets.
• Nelamangala Batrahalli gave me good treatment in seven days I was on the sets of Malayalam film.
• Discipline is similar in all the language fields.
• I fight with almighty. I have cried why you brought me here in the beginning days. Then I changed my thoughts. You have brought me here and you have to take care of me. In the fight almighty is right and he is always the winner.
• When Kashta is there one can be happier in life.
• For films I used to give natural feel.
• KSL Swamee, Siddalingaiah, Chitti Babu and others like Sridhar in Tamil were great makers. I was following the Mitchell camera.
• I promised SR Puttnna Kanagal that I will not become a director.
• We are Indians we should have in mind first. In middle school I learnt Sanskrit, Tamil and other languages.
• First let us win for ourselves and be united. Not give the nation to others hands.
• The respect for artists is coming down. That should not happen. We want our heroine’s first.
• In our time we received less salary compared to others. That is the reason we could not take up projects on our own.
• I don’t know politics. I don’t know how to utter lies.
